Interview today went really, really well. The panel asked for an example of me de-escalating an upset customer. I started pulling out examples from the "I need a supervisor" line at my old job, which I was on, and was able to keep them laughing with me while I told tech support stories till the end of the interview.
I also got a chance to meet a few of the nice ladies who'll on my team if I get the job. They had their knitting out. I have now established myself as that adorable young man who knows how to knit. Apparently the big thing on my possible new team is that so-and-so is teaching the rest of the team to knit in their spare time. I can work with this, and it'll make the slow hours go by. They are, however, very nice sociable people.
Oh, and medical, dental, etc isn't deducted from your paycheck. It's just paid for entirely by the company.

Sven and I broke up the staircase between floors one and two. We barricaded the windows on floor one, but really they're just visual impairments. We're using the ladder to get down to cook, then running the food back up as fast as we can.
I'm kind of glad we kept so much food on hand. The freezer was stocked with roasts, ribs, and game hens purchased while they were cheap. Other than that, we have nearly 50 lbs of rice, and the nori to add a little vegetable matter to our diet. It's not a balanced diet, but it'll last us for a while. Unless the water lines go out- then we're screwed.
Hopefully until help comes.
I'm just glad they're slow. We had some make it into downstairs, before we had the barricades up. They're rotting on the lawn now. If they'd been faster, we wouldn't have been able to crush their skulls in. Sven and I have both had to break boards since we were fairly young with our bare hands, and a good solid cooking pot seems to work just fine for breaking up zombie heads.
Okay, so Sven got most of them, not me. I'm just glad he had the replica weapons collection in his room. I used to laugh at him for sleeping with a Viking axe.
If anyone in the far north is reading, let me know. I've already seen reports coming in from friends in Australia of the same problems, so it's gotta be global. I don't care how widespread it is, though, there's no way a zombie's going to avoid freezing solid as it shambles towards point Barrow. What the weather doesn't take out, the polar bears will.
Of course, the full briefing was released here
