I am quite the grouchy Brendan. Normally, I'm not the first to volunteer to work overtime, but my student loan (and tax) payments will necessitate it. I'll be working overtime tomorrow, and probably Friday (possible even some next week) to take care of the case load of a department member who's no longer with the company. Luckily, since I'm doing this voluntarily, I get to pick and choose what I want to take on- and leave the rest to be randomly reassigned to whoever's unlucky enough to get them. Also, every customer I take on voluntarily takes away from the number I have assigned to me at the start of the day. I forsee overtime this week making for a very easy workload next week. I still don't relish the idea of staying late both today and tomorrow. The bathtub quit working several ago. It had been draining fine, and then suddenly stopped. We left it while we were at work, and there was still water in it when I came home. A bottle of drain cleaner did nothing- except cause the pipes to spit up chunks of something red. (Friends are suggesting the bath tub may be possessed. I'm beginning to believe them.) The plumber who was suppossed to come by this morning didn't bother showing up. Of course, this means that my goal for the evening (have my first shower in far too many days, and a cup of chocolate) is at least halfway thwarted. I can't get the water in the sink nearly hot enough, meaning I'm going to have to have icy water dripping down my back once I wash my hair. I really wish I could tell customers that they were the fourth person today who claims to make the sole purchasing decisions for our largest account (though they're never able to specify what company that account is for), and that they will deprive our company of several billion dollars in revenue if I don't immediately acquiesce to their wishes. |
